Mayday Ice Cream / Facebook
If there’s one thing that can help you get through the heat of Florida’s summer, it’s ice cream.
National Ice Cream Day happens on Sunday, July 17, and dozens of Tampa Bay’s ice creameries head to downtown St. Pete to celebrate. From soft serve to Italian Ice to frozen custard, snow cones and popsicles—the St. Pete Pier will be the go-to place for sweet treats this weekend.
Over 20 local dessert businesses will be at this event, which is free to attend and happening rain or shine (which in the Florida summer, could mean rain.)
The current vendor list at the Tampa Bay Ice Cream Festival includes, but is not limited to:
- Astro Craft Ice Cream
- Hyppo Gourmet Popsicles
- Mayday Ice Cream
- Spa Beach Bistro
- Kona Ice
- Softee The King
- What’s Shakin Gourmet Milkshakes
- Lava Ice Shop
- Whit’s Frozen Custard
- Anthony’s Homemade Italian Ice
Guests can also play judge and vote for the first ever “best ice cream” in Tampa Bay award, after aptly sampling enough ice cream from the participating vendors.
Assuming you’ll be stuffed with ice cream and other desserts, you might want to take the pier’s free tram back to the car.
