ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — As some say, all good things must come to an end, and that’s true for one restaurant in St. Petersburg. Munch’s Restaurant and Sundries welcomed people for the last time on Friday.

Larry Munch is the owner of the restaurant and inherited it after his mother passed away at the age of 88. He says his mother’s dream for him was to not continue working at the restaurant at the age of 80.
Munch says he wanted to honor his mother’s wish and retire. He says the restaurant will always be a place full of memories for him. Seeing so many people turn up at the restaurant Friday meant the world to him.
Although he looks forward to what he will do when he retires, there’s one feeling he will miss.
“I see these guys once or twice a year and then we got the regulars that come in everyday and stuff. I’ll be losing a lot of good friends because we all sit here, and this is where we solve all the world’s problems right here,” Munch told Spectrum News.
The best thing about being a restaurant owner according to Munch is the camaraderie, and the community. He even tells us he felt like a Mayor during his time with his restaurant because of the community support.
The new owners reportedly plan to reopen the restaurant. If that happens, he says he is unsure if he’ll be able to step foot back in the restaurant again.
