HERNANDO COUNTY, FL — A St. Pete man who walked in the roadway on State Road 50 in Hernando County early Thursday morning died when a Dodge Durango hit him, Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to troopers, the 52-year-old man stood in a westbound lane near Cedar Lane at about 5:20 a.m. for unknown reasons. A 58-year-old woman of Ridge Manor then hit him with her Durango as she drove along SR-50.

A medical examiner pronounced the man dead at the crash location, troopers said.
