click to enlarge A temple of sorts for Midwestern-transplants and hot dog-lovers is finally opening in St. Pete.

Ilovetheburg writes that St. Pete’s highly-anticipated Portillo’s at 2302 Tyrone Blvd N. will celebrate its grand opening on Tuesday, April 5.  A ribbon cutting ceremony with the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce is set for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, and after that, its doors are officially open for service.

Complete with vintage-feeling 50’s decor, a drive thru and an outdoor patio, the Burg’s new Portillo’s will definitely jazz up the Tyrone area of St. Petersburg—with the closest restaurant 32 miles away in North Tampa.

Tyrone’s Portillo’s will boast the same menu of its sibling locations in Tampa and beyond—with entrees like hot dogs, beef, fish, chicken and sausage sandwiches, burgers, salads and bowls.

Besides its portobello mushroom sandwich and salads, the Chicago-based chain doesn’t offer many vegetarian-friendly options. Iconic Portillo’s desserts include its decadent cakes and milkshakes.

There are still a few full-time and part-time positions available at St. Petersburg’s Portillo’s, with all crew members starting at $15 an hour.
