ST. PETERSBURG — Police are asking for help identifying the drivers of two vehicles after a pedestrian was struck twice and killed Christmas evening.

The victim, a 56-year-old man, was walking along the north sidewalk of 18th Avenue S near 20th Street S when he stepped off the curb to cross the street at 7:10 p.m., according to a news release from St. Petersburg police.

Police say the driver of a blue Kia was going west at the time and hit the pedestrian. Moments later, a gray sedan of an unknown make hit the man while he was in the road.

Neither driver stayed at the scene, according to the release, and police are asking anyone with information about either vehicle to contact police at 727-893-7780 or to submit a tip via text to TIP411.

The person hit by the vehicles died at the scene, police said. His identity was not released.
