A pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorist in an SUV while crossing the 1600 block of St. Petersburg’s Central Avenue early Sunday morning.
Meghan Prettyman, 34, was hit by a white Chevrolet SUV just before 1 a.m, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. She was walking north mid-block.
Prettyman was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and was later pronounced dead.
The SUV had been traveling westbound on Central. The driver, who has been cooperative with the investigation, showed no signs of impairment, police said. Police did not name the driver of the vehicle and did not share other details.
The roadway was closed early this morning during the investigation but has since been reopened.
