ST. PETE, FL — A 60-year-old St. Petersburg man is in critical condition after a car hit him Wednesday night on Fifth Avenue South, St. Pete police said.

As the man crossed Fifth Avenue South, authorities said he walked in front of a Hyundai that then hit him.

According to police, he wore dark clothing and did not use the crosswalk.

EMS took him to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was last reported in critical condition, police said.
