ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Detectives have identified the burned body found in St. Petersburg last week to be 31-year-old Heather Elizabeth Olmstead, police said on Monday.

Detectives are asking anyone with information please call police at 727-893-7780 or text SPPD + your tip to TIP411.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue was called out to extinguish a trash can fire in a back alley on the 2900 block of Emerson Avenue around 12:30 a.m., Thursday. After they put out the fire, they discovered a badly-burned body.

The St. Petersburg Police Department said preliminary reports indicated that this was a homicide.

The police department’s homicide detectives and the Pinellas County Major Crimes Task Force is working the scene to find out what happened.
