TREASURE ISLAND — A man crossing Gulf Boulevard in an area of single-family homes and vacation cottages was struck and killed by a minivan Sunday night, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident occurred about 9:50 p.m. in front of 10182 Gulf Blvd., the address of the Penthouse Beach Club condominium resort.

Daniel Wells, 52, was crossing the four-lane road east to west when he was hit by a 2006 Dodge Caravan driven by Christopher Grazer, 53, of Seminole.

Wells, whose address was listed as transient, was not crossing in a crosswalk, the Sheriff’s Office said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Grazer remained on the scene and was cooperating with the investigation. Speed and impairment did not appear to be factors.

Correction: An earlier version of this story had the time of the incident wrong.
