The historic Dolphin Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach is now owned by Tampa Bay Buccaneers co-owner and co-chairman Bryan Glazer.

The SCG Beach Hospitality LLC, which is owned by Glazer, purchased the resort in an $84.2 million deal from Dolphin Holdings Limited Inc., according to Pinellas County records.

The buyer also took out a $58.5 million mortgage from the Fifth Third Bank National Association.

The 173-room resort at 4900 Gulf Blvd. is a three-star property that is located directly on the beach and boasts a handful of amenities. It was first built in 1966 and offers balconies overlooking the Gulf and cabana rentals at its pool.

“We have believed in the international appeal of the St. Pete Beach market since we arrived in the area in 1981, when we acquired the Dolphin Beach Resort,” Dolphin Holdings Limited President Nizar Lakhani said in a news release from the Plasencia Group, a Tampa-based hospitality investment advisory firm working with SCG Beach Hospitality.

“We are pleased to be passing on the keys to the resort to Shanna and Bryan Glazer, a well-respected local family who we know will be great stewards,” he continued.

The Glazers plan to renovate the resort.

“St. Pete Beach is the No. 1 beach in the United States, and we think that the future will only get better for the area,” Bryan Glazer said. “We look forward to maximizing the potential that we believe the Dolphin Beach Resort offers.”

Nick Plasencia and Chris Plasencia facilitated the transaction of the Dolphin Beach Resort.

It’s the second resort the Glazers have acquired in the area. In 2018, the group acquired The Vinoy Resort and Golf Club in Downtown St. Petersburg.
