ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A 26-year-old man died hours after a fiery one-vehicle wreck early Saturday morning in St. Petersburg, according to police.

The St. Petersburg Police Department said Demond Perry, 26, was driving south on Tyrone Boulevard around 3 a.m. when he lost control of his white Infinity near 9th Avenue North.

According to police, Perry’s Infiniti flipped and caught on fire.

First responders managed to rescue the trapped man from the wreckage and take him to Tampa General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities said Tyrone Boulevard was fully reopened to traffic.
