Here are new St. Pete restaurants you need to keep on your radar.

575 Central Avenue
A new fun dining experience is coming to downtown St. Pete, as ‘The Crane’ announced a January 2022 opening at 575 Central Avenue. The steak and seafood concept is being opened by the owners of Mangosteen, which is closing in on its own opening day right across the street.
3201 4th Street North
Jay & Luigi is a new fast casual pizza concept from the minds behind Ciccio Restaurant Group and Forbici Modern Italian. It’s set to debut at 3201 4th Street North in St. Pete, the former home of Burger 21, and right next to the iconic restaurant Harvey’s.
25th Avenue & 4th Street North
La Segunda Bakery & Café, the legendary family-owned business based in Tampa, will bring a taste of Ybor City to St. Petersburg with the opening of its third location at 2436 4th Street North on the corner of 25th Avenue and 4th Street. The business is now hiring ahead of its official debut.
19th Street & 1st Avenue South
Good Intentions (@goodintentions_fl) will be the new vegan hot spot in St. Petersburg. The concept is the creation of Nah Dogs, Golden Dinosaur Vegan Deli, and Black Radish Vegan Grocery Store.
Bonu Taverna
601 Central Avenue
Bonu Taverna (@bonu_taverna) is a new Italian restaurant that will open inside Cider Press Cafe. The owners have teased bringing a “taste of Sicily” to the Sunshine City.
Taverna Costale
200 Central Ave. Suite 165
Restaurauteur Fabio Vivani is opening a brand new restaurant next door to Craft Kafe in downtown St. Pete called Taverna Costale (@tavernacostale).
“Taverna Costale is the perfect blend of a rustic Italian eatery, an energetic local tavern, and an upscale modern restaurant. Indulge in fresh pasta and pizzas in our beautiful dining room, or enjoy a signature cocktail at our vibrant bar, which extends both indoor and outdoor. 495 7th Avenue North
The Works Cafe will open inside the former Pete’s General location in the historic Uptown neighborhood of St. Petersburg.
The owners made the announcement in an Instagram post:
“Everyone this is Kelly, Kendra, and Meaghan! The great minds behind Squeeze Juice Works’ newest vegan cafe, The Works! The Works is going to be a playground of vegan, medicinal, plant-based foods that cross cultures, heal the body, and fortify the soul! The Works will be located at 495 7th Ave N overlooking historic Round Lake. We have just begun build-out.”

The Twisted Indian Restaurant is located at 2639 Central Avenue and should open in late spring in St. Pete.
Lokesh Vale launched the Twisted Indian as a Food Truck in St. Petersburg back in 2016. The concept has been a major success at the Saturday Morning market, and pop up events throughout the Sunshine City. Seriously, the buttermilk naan and chicken tikka masala are addictive.
The Twisted Indian spent a short time inside Baum Avenue Market in the EDGE District before departing in March 2020. Now, Vale and his team will open a dedicated Twisted Indian brick-and-mortar concept at 2639 Central Avenue in the Grand Central District.
Mochinut, a wildly popular sweet spot, is planning a Florida expansion, and its latest announcement will bring the delicious treats to Pinellas Park.
What is a mochi donut?
“Mochi donut is the titillating product of the happy union between Japanese rice cake (mochi) and American-style doughnuts, which originated in Hawaii,” writes the Mochinut team.

A Mano Italian

Cozy modern Italian American eatery, part of a local family of restaurants, dishes up thin-crust pizza and Italian classics.

A new Australian brewpub concept, “Where’s Jubes” Aussie Brewpub & Grill, will open at 277 Central Ave in the former Lucky Dill Deli location.
The food menu development is underway in the test kitchen, but a few standouts include:
Rosemary Balsamic Spare Ribs: braised in balsamic & rosemary, slow cooked & sautéed off
Aussie Burger: beef patty, bacon, cheese, egg, caramelized onion, pickled beets, tomato and lettuce
Grilled Prime Rib: garlic mash, asparagus, burnt brown butter and thyme
Beer Battered Wedges: potato in sweet chili, sour cream, and chives
Sticky Date Pudding: served with bourbon infused ice cream”?
Portillo’s

Chicago hot dogs are coming to the ‘Burg in 2022. Portillo’s is famous its Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, chopped salad, cheese fries, homemade chocolate cake, and chocolate cake shake. Their Italian beef is slow-roasted for four hours, thinly sliced, and served on freshly baked French bread.
